Pacific Connect, yumiwork and Common Code invite you to join us as we recognise those who have recently attended Pacific Tech Academy workshops in Port Vila and learnt the basics of Python and Django, two popular and widely used modern software development languages.

Graduates will demonstrate and discuss the software development skills they have obtained.

yumiwork will lead a discussion about collaboration and opportunities to further develop and build digital skills of people in Vanuatu.

Who is this event for?

  • Recent graduates of the Learning to Code with Python and Django workshops
  • Business & government leaders interested in developing and nurturing digital skills amongst local people
  • Community members wanting to understand more about software development and digital and technology opportunities

About the partners

Pacific Connect is an initiative of the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships, funded by the Australian Government, to build stronger relationships between people in Australia and the Pacific. Pacific Connect emphasises private sector development (especially the SME sector), digital skills and projects, and supporting female entrepreneurs.

Common Code is a software development agency and consultancy based in Melbourne, Australia. It has a passion for providing opportunities to people in the Pacific to acquire and develop digital skills and build livelihoods and business within the digital economy.

In Vanuatu, yumiwork is a modern business coworking space, with business incubator programs, who support entrepreneurship and innovation.

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Graduates demonstrate and discuss the software development skills they have obtained
  • Presentation of certificates to graduates
  • Facilitated discussion of potential collaboration and opportunities to further develop and build digital skills of people in Vanuatu
  • Food, drinks and networking
